Clubs, squads and remote coaching teams, and what changed when the plan stopped living in a spreadsheet.
La Cabra Tira al Monte
Julio Cabrera runs La Cabra Tira al Monte, a trail club with around 50 runners, most of them in groups and a few on personalised plans. He used to send each runner a PDF on the 1st of every month. Today he has the group plans ready at the end of the month, his runners get their workouts on their watch, and he reckons he saves around 20 hours a week.
Kms por un Sueño
Carlos Jávega has coached online for more than ten years with Kms por un Sueño. As he grew, the challenge was not losing closeness with each runner. Today he looks after more than 100 athletes, a trail school, a club and development projects with his own library and plans that adapt when life changes.
Edu Vela Motrivacional
Eduardo Vela has coached endurance athletes since 2010. For years he looked for a platform that would let him keep everything in one place without overpaying. Nine years after switching to TrainerPlan, he coaches 39 athletes online and has persuaded many coach friends to do the same.
Kapurro’s Team
Raúl López runs Kapurro’s Team, a trail, running, ultra and cycling team. He started with Excel templates, where tracking each athlete’s load was the hardest part. Today he coaches more than 80 while spending fewer hours on analysis than when he had 10, and he makes a living from it.
CSTRAINING
Carlos ServÃn coaches 60 running and trail athletes in Asunción. He used to build plans in Excel and send every routine over WhatsApp, athlete by athlete, in a chat that never stopped filling up. Today he loads routines quickly and easily, tracks every session with charts and plans two and a half times more than a year ago.
Comekhronos Entrenamiento y Nutrición
Cristina Velasco runs Comekhronos, a running and trail team in Madrid with in-person and online athletes. She used to send plans as PDFs and get a document back from every athlete each week. Today she has her own workout library, strength inside the app and twice as many planned sessions as a year ago.
Otta Training Team
César Ottaviani has coached remotely since 2001, when plans travelled as Word files. A former professional triathlete, he now runs Otta Training Team with more than 200 athletes across trail, running, MTB, cycling, triathlon and swimming, and uses TrainerPlan every day to analyse their training.
Lucho Pilatti Team
Lucho Pilatti Team coaches trail runners spread all over the world. With one Excel file per athlete the team stalled at around 50 runners and worked around the clock. Today it has 146 active athletes, has passed 200 at its peak, and saves at least five hours a day.
