How a Madrid running club doubled its planned sessions without sending another PDF

Cristina Velasco runs Comekhronos, a running and trail team in Madrid with in-person and online athletes. She used to send plans as PDFs and get a document back from every athlete each week. Today she has her own workout library, strength inside the app and twice as many planned sessions as a year ago.

A PDF out and a document back

Cristina Velasco runs Comekhronos Entrenamiento y Nutrición in Madrid, a running and trail team with around 100 athletes. Some train with her in person, in club groups; others train online.

For years the system was the one many coaches know: the plan went out as a PDF and, every week, every athlete sent back a document with what they had done. That was how Cristina followed their progress. It worked, but every week meant opening, reading and sorting dozens of files before she could decide anything.

"I used to work by sending PDFs and getting a document back from the athletes every week so I could follow their plan. Slow, and neither practical nor productive."

A library of her own

Cristina joined TrainerPlan in August 2021, and the first thing she built was her system. Today her library holds five years of work turned into sessions she can reuse and adapt. Planning is no longer writing from scratch; it's choosing, adjusting and assigning.

"The app lets me have my own system with my workout library. From there it's much easier to plan what each athlete needs."

Follow-up moved too. Instead of a weekly document, every completed workout lands in the calendar and the conversation happens around it, in the chat or in the comments on each session.

"Being able to stay in constant contact with them is key to adapting every phase."

Club and online, in one place

Comekhronos isn't only an online team. Some athletes train in person, in the club's groups, and others get an individual online plan. Both worlds live on the same platform.

"The app lets me manage the club's in-person athletes and online athletes in a practical, individual way."
  • Club groups — each in-person group has its own space, without any athlete losing their individual profile and history.
  • Individual plans for online athletes — remote athletes get their week in the app, adapted to their phase and their race calendar.
  • One library — the same sessions work for the club and for online athletes, so nothing gets written twice.

Strength, inside the app

Until March 2026 strength was still a PDF: a routine attached to the session that the athlete opened separately. That month TrainerPlan launched its strength planner, and Cristina started using it on launch day. Since then she has programmed 960 strength sessions inside the app, with exercises that each come with their video, sets and loads, and every athlete logs what they do in each set.

"The changes to strength planning are a before and after. I've said goodbye to PDF routines attached in the app, so everything is in one place. The athletes appreciate it and can see the change for the better."

What changed

Cristina's own calendar tells the story. Between January and September 2026 she planned 20,389 sessions, more than double the same period in 2025, when it was 9,888. Her athletes completed 16,134 of them, almost eight in ten.

That jump didn't come from working twice the hours. It came from no longer shuffling files: a library that gets reused, follow-up that arrives on its own, and strength that no longer lives in a separate PDF.

"Every small improvement in the app helps me save time."

And for her, that time is what makes growth possible.

"Managing your time is crucial if you want to grow. So getting tools that help you enjoy your work much more and add value to what you do is so much better."
