Follow Guided Strength Workouts in the Mobile App
Strength sessions fall apart when the plan is a screenshot from your coach. The TrainerPlan mobile app turns every strength workout into a guided session: each exercise with its demo video, sets ticked off as you go, your progress saved if you get interrupted, and your feedback flowing straight back to your coach.
What your coach prepares
Coaches build strength sessions in the strength editor — exercises in order (A, B, C…), each with its sets, reps and load, plus a demo video from TrainerPlan’s exercise library or the coach’s own upload. Targets can be an absolute weight, an RPE, or a percentage of your maximum, so the same session scales to every athlete in a group.
Find the session on your phone
- Open the Calendar tab. Strength workouts appear on the day your coach planned them, and the card lists the exercises so you know what’s coming before you leave the house.
- Tap the workout to open it. The detail view shows the full session: every exercise with its sets, reps, target load and any note your coach added.
- No coach? You can build your own strength workout in the app: tap the + button on the calendar and choose a strength session, then add exercises from the picker.
Train with your phone in the rack
- Tap Start training and the app switches into execution mode, walking you through the session exercise by exercise.
- Not sure about a movement? Tap the video on the exercise — demos play right in the app, and YouTube links (including Shorts) open with one tap.
- Tick off each set as you finish it. Did 8 reps instead of 10, or went up in weight? Adjust the actual values as you go — what you log is what your coach sees.
- Rest, take a call, leave the gym and come back: the session resumes exactly where you left off.
- When you finish, send your training feedback — how the session felt, in one quick step before you rack the weights.
Push it to your Apple Watch
On iPhone, strength sessions are also sent to your Apple Watch, scheduled with the workout’s title and its exercise steps — so you can start the session from your wrist and let your phone stay in your bag.
What your coach sees
Your completed sets and your feedback appear on the coach’s side immediately, and the workout takes its compliance colour on the calendar. Your coach knows not just that you trained, but exactly what you lifted — which is what makes next week’s loads right.
Strength and endurance, one plan
Because strength lives on the same calendar as your runs and rides, your week is planned as a whole — no separate gym app, no accidental double-hard days. Your gym work also appears in the app’s Analysis tab, so the strength block gets the same credit as the intervals.
Availability
Following the workouts your coach assigns is included for connected athletes. Creating your own strength workouts in the app is part of Athlete Premium — with the full exercise library and its video demos included. The app is available for iPhone and Android.
